"Sew" Fun!

Last year my mentor, and great friend, introduced me to monogrammed baby burp cloths and I fell in love with them. John and I don't have any kids but I thought they would be great gifts for friends who are having babies. Below are a few burp cloths I have made so far. Next time I plan to monogram a cloth basket and fill it with necessity items and the burp cloths. I have a couple friends who are pregnant now, and a few more people who are ordering them from me soon, so I would love to hear your ideas for designs/color schemes.

Going to the Chapel

A friend from one of my graduate school classes is throwing a bridal shower for one of her friends back home this weekend. She wanted to serve engagement ring and wedding dress cookies at the shower, and she asked me to make them! I love everything about weddings and I was super excited about making these cookies. I went online to amazon.com to find the cookie cutters, and even tried a new sugar cookie recipe (John was my taste tester and said they were pretty tasty).  I can't wait to hear what the girls think!

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Tomorrow is the last day (and presentation day) for one of my graduate classes. During this class we had to research a theory or theorist, design and implement a project, and write a 30 page paper discussing it all! Sounds fun, huh? Well, our paper was due last week and our poster presentation is tomorrow. We are required to bring at least 3 people to come view our research and many of professors are coming. Throughout the years refreshments have been provided by the students.... sooo having such a sweet-tooth, I decided to bring SPRING cookies. Below are some of the cookies I will be taking in tomorrow.

Cheers to the last day of class!!

Happy Easter!

I can't believe it's already Easter! Time is flying by too fast. This was John and I's first married Easter. We celebrated it with his family down at their beach house in Swansboro, NC. I always tend to bring something sweet down to the beach so I made some "chicks" and brought down ingredients to make baked brie. I posted a picture of the cookies below but I forgot to take a picture of the brie. I think we were all too hungry to wait. :) Yummy! Yummy!

I have 2 more orders coming up this week! (1) I am making Spring cookies for our final showcase Tuesday for one of my graduate classes AND (2) I am making monogrammed engagement ring and wedding dress cookies for a friend who is throwing a bridal shower! I am super excited about these and I promise to post pictures as soon as I get them done.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter!!

5 + 5 = A COOKIE!

My mom says that when I was younger I would use any excuse possible to make and decorate a cake. Although I still love cakes, I found a new love for cookies in college, probably because they are easier and less time consuming than cakes. I love cookies, probably more than any person should love cookies. As a matter of fact, I make chocolate chip cookies almost every single night after dinner. After having a friend introduce me to a blog (Sweetsugarbelle) I decided I would try my hand at combining decorating and cookies.

The school I work at was having a {math} night to celebrate math and share math games with families at our school. Each teacher was asked to bring a dessert so I thought, what a perfect opportunity for me to decorate some cookies. Unfortunately, I was unable to go to the math night but I was told they were a huge hit! Not so bad for my first attempt at cookie decorating.

Here are a few of the cookies:
